“Music”是生活的調(diào)劑品，沒有“music”的生活是有所缺失的。然而，“Face the music”卻不是大家想象中的“面對(duì)音樂”。這個(gè)說法跟音樂并沒有什么關(guān)系，表達(dá)的意思是：“承擔(dān)后果”，面對(duì)現(xiàn)實(shí)或者處理一些現(xiàn)實(shí)狀況，接受所有的結(jié)果，不管是好是壞。但大多數(shù)情況下都是不太好的結(jié)果。有時(shí)候，也用來表示接受懲罰，接受某個(gè)行為帶來的直接后果。

這個(gè)短語來源于劇場(chǎng)。演員們?cè)谖枧_(tái)上表演時(shí)，就直接面對(duì)著樂池中的樂隊(duì)，在舞臺(tái)上，演員經(jīng)常會(huì)由于緊張或怯場(chǎng)而造成忘詞等尷尬的局面，只要音樂一響，演員就沒有任何選擇的余地，只能去face the music（必須承受出現(xiàn)的局面）。人們遂用face the music指承擔(dān)自己行為的后果。
