The story goes that two friends were walking through the desert .During some point of jurney they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand, “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”
They kept on walking until they found an oasis ,where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.
After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone, “Today my best friend saved my life.”
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone.Why?”
The other friend replied, “When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.But when someone does something good for us ,we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”

他們繼續(xù)前進(jìn),發(fā)現(xiàn)了一片綠洲,他們正打算在那里洗澡時(shí),方才被打了耳光的那個(gè)人陷入了泥潭,已經(jīng)開始沉沒(méi),這時(shí)他的朋友救了他。
他從接近淹死的狀態(tài)中恢復(fù)過(guò)來(lái)之后,在一塊石頭上刻下:“今天,我最好的朋友拯救了我的生命。”
打過(guò)他又救過(guò)他性命的朋友問(wèn)他:“我傷害了你的時(shí)候,你把它寫在沙里,而現(xiàn)在救了你,你又將它寫在石頭上,問(wèn)什么呢?”他的朋友回答:“當(dāng)受到別人傷害的時(shí)候,我們把它寫在沙上,這樣寬恕的風(fēng)會(huì)把他帶走。但是別人對(duì)我們做了好事,我們必須刻在石頭上,讓它永遠(yuǎn)不被抹去。”
