換個瘦長的杯子喝酒吧,這樣也許你在不知不覺中就少喝了五分之一……
People, even the experienced bartenders tend to pour more liquor into a short, wide "tumblers" than into the tall, narrow ones, researchers have found.
Researchers selected 198 college students and 86 bartenders and told them to pour liquor into glasses. Half of the students were given tall, slim 355 ml glasses and the rest short, wide 355 ml glasses.
While the student group ended up pouring around 30 per cent more liquor into the short glasses, the bartenders, on an average, poured around 20.5 per cent more.
The US researchers, led by Dr Brian Wansink at Cornell University in Ithica, New York, wrote in the British Medical Journal that tall highball glasses or glasses with an alcohol level marked on them should be used to control alcohol consumption.
"When alcoholic drinks are served in short wide glasses, two drinks are actually equal to two and a half," they said.
